Furry fans wear their pet hate with pride

SUE Johns is seeing red – not only because her beloved Pies lost to the Cats but because her two dogs are now wearing the striking colour.
Sue and partner Don Mario, who barracks for the Hawks, usually dress their ‘girls’ in black and white or brown and gold, but the poochy pair are wearing an extra scarlet strip for grand final weekend.
“It’s a major loss so I’m seeing red,” Sue said of the Pies’ 73-point preliminary final loss to Geelong.
“Our dogs hate the cats – they chase them away. And they look good in red, white and black.”
Sue said while Collingwood’s loss was disappointing, she had worked herself up to making new attire for Sofia, a King Charles Cavalier, and Gina, a Sheltie, featuring an extra colour.
“They (usually) wear the ‘Go Pies’ but now the black and white is in the Saints’ coat,” she said.
And it seems that the couple’s neighbours are happy with the dogs’ new guernseys.
“There are a lot of people up the street who are Saints supporters,” Sue said.
“It’s a good story for everyone up the street.”
