Get set for fire

PREPARATION for the upcoming fire season is in full swing, with council preparing to slash roadsides in Cardinia and identify fire hazards in parks and reserves.
Council officers are also urging residents to take extra care to ensure their properties are fire safe.
Emergency management co-ordinator Paul Dickson said the council had a detailed program of actions that contributed to the shire’s fire safety.
“Staff from across council are acting to clear fuels from roadsides, parks and reserves and to ensure vacant and unimproved private properties are fire safe,” he said.
“We are also active in encouraging the community to prepare themselves and their properties for bushfires and supporting our CFA colleagues in their endeavours.”
