An open door on the music industry

UP and coming musicians will soon be able to get a glimpse at the workings of the industry.
Electric Productions, the Cardinia Shire Council FReeZA committee, will host an Annual Music Industry Night on Wednesday 28 October.
The all-ages event will allow performers to hear about the experiences of professionals in the industry as well as learn about its tricks and traps.
“The workshop will cover a range of topics including but not limited to; promotions, licensing and recording,” Cardinia Shire Council Youth Services Officer Carrolyn Agius said.
Guest speakers include personnel from the Australasian Performing Rights Association (APRA), Dave Griffiths from Buzz Magazine, music consultant Mark Haughton and Nick Barker the former lead singer of Nick Barker and the Reptiles and presenter within the Arts Management Advisory Group. “The Electric Productions team is keen to get as many young musicians as possible to attend,” Ms Aguis said.
The night will also include a short performance by local musician, Tara Dowler.
The workshop will run from 6pm until 9pm at the Cardinia Cultural Centre.
For catering purposes RSVP to the Cardinia Shire Council’s Youth Service Team by Friday 23 October on 1300 787 624 or email youth@cardinia.vic.gov.au.
