Principal’s warning

PAKENHAM Secondary College principal Ray Squires says people involved in a fight that erupted last week on the school’s oval will be dealt with.
Mr Squires described the incident, which was captured on a mobile phone camera, as isolated but unfortunate.
“It’s extremely unfortunate that a young person was injured in that event,” he told the Gazette.
“As a result of that, we have started our internal investigations and will be issuing consequences as deemed appropriate.”
Footage of the fight, on Tuesday 13 October, was distributed to media outlets, some of which reported that a 13-year-old boy received head and neck injuries.
Mr Squires said he was unsure of the extent of the boy’s injuries. He emphasised that the school was doing all it could to prevent fights in the schoolyard.
“Incidents like that won’t be tolerated at our school,” he said.
“We will continue to work hard with the student body to prevent these incidents from happening.”
Police are also investigating the incident.
Acting Senior Sergeant Paul Bruders said those involved would be “spoken to in due course”.
