Kooweerup Bypass back before MPs

THE push for the Kooweerup Bypass was again taken to Parliament this month.
Despite promises for a proposed route of the bypass by now, residents have been left in limbo with as many as 10,000 vehicles and up to 90 trucks an hour passing through the town every day.
Eastern Victoria MP Edward O’Donohue raised the matter in Parliament and urged the government to announce the preferred route and start works as soon as possible.
He said there were many issues related to the project and the large amount of traffic passing through the town was having a detrimental effect on Kooweerup.
Without the bypass, he said he feared that the town’s population would dwindle, with many tired of dealing with banked-up traffic on long weekends, during school holidays and especially throughout the summer break.
