A SPARE tin of food may make a big difference to struggling Cardinia Shire families this Christmas.
Residents across the shire have been urged to donate non-perishable food to the “4000 4 4Cs” campaign.
Cardinia Shire Council, Star News Group and the Cardinia Combined Churches Caring (4Cs) food bank have joined forces in an attempt to spread Christmas cheer to every local family.
4Cs co-ordinator Jeni Mathieson encouraged residents to add an extra item, such as a Christmas pudding or packet of long-life milk, to their weekly shop and donate it at one of the drop-off points across the shire.
“Any tinned food or cereal, Christmas items like shortbread and minced pies, or everyday items like pasta, rice and long-life milk would be great,” she said.
“If people belong to a mothers group, or meet their friends for coffee once a week, anything like that, it would be so nice if they could get together and bring even one item.”
Food can be donated at Ritchies IGA Pakenham, council offices, the Star News Group office and the 4Cs. For a full list of drop-off locations, visit www.cardinia.vic.gov.au
