Pets fund shelter

About $400 in gold coin donations was raised at the expo last month, which included a free barbecue, fancy dress pet show, a petting zoo and miniature ponies.
Visitors to the expo also took home some lucky purchase prizes including a DVD player and video camera. Kalinda Knox from Pakenham Produce and Saddlery said the expo was a chance to inform townspeople about animals.
“It was very exciting. We had lots of people with their animals,” Ms Knox said.
Ms Knox said this year’s expo, the sixth held to raise funds for the shelter, was especially important after Maryknoll was hit by the Black Saturday bushfires last year.
