CARDINIA Shire residents can be certain of Cr Runge’s firm response, should a member of the public act in an angry or threatening manner towards CEO Mr
Welsh in the council chamber.
Yet Cr Runge and manager organisation development Mr Swiderski seem comfortable with Mr Welsh intimidating a female member of the public, on the farcical pretext that Mr Welsh was “not employed” at the time.
You would really think that big grown men would know better. Come on this isn’t about employment.
Victorian schools are running a program to stamp out bullying. Perhaps ratepayers might agree to run the same program for senior management at Cardinia Shire.

RECENTLY, I went to the Cardinia Shire office and requested that our court sign be given a companion which would read “no through road”.
The reason for this request was safety, in that quite frequently drivers of large vehicles enter the court in the belief that it is a short cut to Ahern Road or the retirement village.
On Wednesday, 20 July at 8.50am, I received a phone call from a spokesperson for the engineer’s department.
I was informed that it was not possible to do as I had requested because “if the department did it for your court it would have to do it for every court”.
That is precisely my point. And, of course, cost is involved.
Since when do issues like danger and public safety have price tags?
I am well aware that shire councils have unenviable reputations when it comes to asinine decisions, but this one goes well beyond established limits, even for Cardinia.

THE volunteers of 4C’s Foodbank, the emergency food bank for the shire, thanks Toomah Wines for its recent Devonshire tea morning for community volunteers at the winery. Even though the morning was cool and rainy the atmosphere was friendly and very warm.

RECENTLY I read Cr Kate Lempriere is keen to see more artworks around Pakenham.
As a ratepayer I think the money would be better spent on reopening the Pakenham 50metre outdoor pool.
While the kids of this town have nowhere to swim in summer it would be an outrage to put up artworks for the birds to sit on.
Casey Council is refurbishing Doveton’s 50metre pool, which is of a similar age to Pakenham’s.
Why can’t the kids of Pakenham have their pool back?
