Six out of seven win for Berwick

A SUCCESSFUL round of Royal Victorian Bowls Association (RVBA) pennant bowls was completed with on Saturday with six of the seven Berwick Bowling Club sides recording a win for round seven.
Adding to this success, three of the sides recorded wins of more than 40 shots up, which was a great result for those teams.
The best winning RVBA side was Berwick (6) with 49 shots up.
Round eight was completed on Sunday due to the Commonwealth Games timetable.

Berwick (2) 13 shots up d Glen Eira McKinnon (K. Clydesdale, K. Fox, T. Trait, M. Walker).
Berwick (3) seven shots up d Mulgrave CC (K. Dorning, J. Sinclair, D. Woodfall, F. Pitcher).
Berwick (4) 40 shots up d Mulgrave CC (P. Steere, J. Barrie, R. McGrath, J. Smyth).
Berwick (5) four shots up d Pakenham (R. Bowman, T. Livingston, J. Clarke, B. Gates).
Berwick (6) 49 shots up d Mulgrave CC (T. McDonald, R. Forbes, M. Goldup, T. Murphy).
Waverley 12 shots up d Berwick (7) (C. Christoferson, J. Steere, H. Heathcote, R. Affleck).

Berwick Ladies

The seventh round of Victorian Ladies’ Bowls Association (VLBA) pennant matches was played on Tuesday, 8 November.
In A1 Section 7 Berwick (1) played Cheltenham (1) at home and had a successful win with 58 shots up. The final score was 122-64.
Berwick (2) in an away match against Chelsea (1) was defeated by only 12 shots in their A1 Section 8 tie. The final score was 89-77.
In A2 Section 8, Berwick (3) had an exciting home match against Narre Warren (1) with the final result an 82-82 draw.
Berwick (4), playing in B1 Section 8, travelled to Patterson River CC and lost to its number one team 28 shots down, 102-74.
The VLBA Club Championship Singles semi-final will be played at 1pm tomorrow (Thursday), and the draw for these matches are Kath Macqueen versus Jean Reddy and Joy Burns versus Barbara Dupe.
Supporters are welcome to view these excellent players in action.
Friendship Day played last Thursday on the Berwick greens was a most enjoyable day for the 16 teams entered.
A total of 23 visitors, guests of the bowlers, attended. The winners and runners-up were obtained by ‘fanning’ the cards. The winning skip was Jean Ostell from Mt Eliza, who was the guest of Mary Kilgariff. This was another successful day organised by the match committee.
