WGCA District divisions – round 11

A BRIGHT double by Russell Lehman helped Pakenham to an easy win over Clyde in WGCA District cricket at the weekend.
After taking four wickets for just 11 runs off seven overs, Lehman chimed in with 36 not out. Ben Moroney and Jesse Hayhow took two wickets each.
Clyde posted 128 before being dismissed in 34 overs. Dave Denton and Joel Avard made 22 and 20 respectively.
Pakenham passed that total with ease for the loss of just two wickets in the 29th over. Michael McLaren also scored 36.
Devon Meadows hosted the winless Nar Nar Goon/Maryknoll at the Cranbourne Racecourse. Batting first, the Marygoons finished with a competitive 9/176. Tom Keily top-scored for the visitors with 51 runs, stand-in captain Craig Lewis finished with 42.
For the home side Lucas Carroll took 3/24 from four overs and the ever-reliable Peter Zauner chipped in with two.
Devon Meadows fell painfully short of the target, finishing all out for 169 runs in 39.4, the second nail-biter in as many weeks for Devon Meadows. Darren O’Brien worked hard for his 55 runs and Alex Travaglia continued his good form with 36.
Craig Lewis topped off a great game for the Nar Nar Goon/Maryknoll, taking 3/31 from his eight.
Merinda Park dismissed Nyora for 80 in 36 overs in a low-scoring battle. Daniel Morrison and Brenton Hackett were the only batsmen able to reach double figures, with 30 and 28 respectively.
Shannon Mathers tore Nyora apart with 4/17 and Josh Colomer and Brendan Fairlam chipped in with two wickets each.
Merinda Park made hard work of chasing the small total, passing it with eight wickets down. Jess Mathers was the rock with 23 not out.
For Nyora, Paul Pattison was almost the match winner, taking 4/13 from seven. Nick Fairbank took two.
Emerald amassed 5/250 batting first against Lyndhurst. Clinton Marsh (52 runs), Mark Alenson (47), A. J. Walker (41) and Geordie Scott (35) led the way.
Mark Henry worked hard for Lyndhurst, taking 2/48 from his eight.
Lyndhurst was bundled out for just 94 runs in 30.4 overs with only Adam Baumgardner making a notable contribution, 22 runs.
Clinton Marsh finished a good game, taking 3/24 from eight overs, but Anthony Flint’s bowling was the highlight: 5/8 from 7.4 overs.

TOORADIN batted first at home against Beaconsfield, producing 7/183 from its 40 overs thanks to Kane Latham (62 of the first 91 runs) and Brad Sauer and Jarred Thompson with 32 and 29 not out respectively.
Don Kerslake bowled a tight line and length, taking 3/29 from his eight, while Brent Colling bowled well for 2/33 from seven.
Beaconsfield chased down the Tooradin total with two overs to spare. Don Kerslake completed a great game with 66 not out and guiding his team to victory, helped by James Johnston’s 36 not out. Tooradin’s Michael Ralph took 2/15.
Cranbourne Meadows travelled to Gembrook and made 9/154 from its 40 overs. Andrew Clappers (29 not out) top-scored and Gavin Boon chipped in with 23 runs. Rick Jeanes and Jeremy Everitt took three and two wickets respectively.
Gembrook chased down the total with relative ease, passing the target for the loss of just two wickets, with eight overs to spare. Timmy Gray was the hero for Gembrook, his 81 not out including nine fours and a six. Darcey Johnstone made 45 not out, giving Gembrook its first win in almost two seasons.
Lang Lang scored an imposing 7/191 against SFX, Ross Douglas (71) and Gareth Andrews (39) sharing a 115-run opening partnership that set up the innings for Lang Lang. Aaron Warn did some damage for SFX, claiming 3/39.
SFX was never in the game and fell well short of the target, all out for 117 runs in 33 overs. Aaron Warn completed a good personal match, top-scoring with 26.
Aaron Creasey and Bodie Brown took 3/28 and 2/19 respectively.
Cardinia managed only 120 against Nar Nar Goon/Maryknoll in just 34 overs. Ricky Campbell scored 46 and Brad Remy 29, the only batsmen to have a notable contribution. Vincent van Strijp, Wade Crawford and Scott Musgrove took three wickets each.
Nar Nar Goon/Maryknoll chased down that total in 37 overs, nine wickets down, for a well-deserved win. Brenton Huyskens scored 30 runs at the top of the order, and Wade Crawford guided his team to victory, 20 not out.
Brad Remy, Ryan DeRues and Ricky Campbell took two wickets each for Cardinia.
