Meet the candidates

By Lilly O’Gorman
SEVEN of the eight candidates vying for Cardinia’s Bunyip Ward seat in next month’s by-election will attend a meet and greet with voters next Monday 28 February.
Bunyip Ward voters will get the chance to grill their prospective councillors at 7.30pm at the Nar Nar Goon Community Hall, Spencer Street, Nar Nar Goon.
The candidates were announced last Tuesday with the nominations closing Tuesday at noon. The candidates, as they appear on the ballot paper, are: Dorle Harris, Gloria O’Connor, Hayden Ostrom Brown, Michael Schilling, Graeme Moore, John Anderson, Vanessa Van Gramberg and George Fry.
The by-election is to be conducted by postal vote and held on 19 March.
The successful candidate will fill the vacant Bunyip Ward seat following the resignation of Bill Pearson from Cardinia Shire Council last December.
Ballot packs will be mailed out from 1 to 3 March and the last day for the return of ballot packs will be Friday 18 March at 6pm.
See next week’s Gazette for profiles of each of the nominees.
