A LONG-time Collingwood supporter had a little taste of their success last week when he got to hold aloft the cup won by the AFL sporting greats.
City of Casey Occupational Health and Safety co-ordinator Andrew Van Oirschot, 47, was one lucky fan able to hold the 2010 AFL Premiership Cup last week at the Casey Council offices.
Mr Van Oirischot said he had been a Collingwood supporter all his life and said it was a great experience to hold the cup, which was courtesy of CGU.
“It’s part of celebrating Collingwood’s win, and something that most people will never get a chance to do,” he said.
“So it was really special.”
Mr Van Oirschot has been a member of his favourite club for six years and attends as many games as he can. He said he remembered watching the Collingwood Magpies play in many finals when he was young and hoped they carried on from this year’s win.
“(I hope they) win as many Premierships as they can,” he said.
“I think they will, it a really good show again (this year!).” The cup also made an appearance at Star News Group in Pakenham.
