Wanting to hold her own event for The World’s Greatest Shave last Thursday, Ms Owen called a local hairdresser, Colour Me Happy, in Pakenham.
Straight away they said they would donate their facilities to help her raise money to fight cancer and leukaemia.
“The support from the girls at Colour Me Happy was just amazing, we couldn’t have done any of this without them,” she said.
Ms Owen’s three boys have been shaving and colouring their hair for the past six years for the event and this year was no exception.
There was also a young girl who bravely shaved her head for the cause.
“Colour Me Happy has even offered to help her style her hair for free as it grows out,” Ms Owen said.
Ms Owen’s event raised a total of $577 for the charity but she said the event showed more than just monetary generosity in the community.
“It is truly amazing what people are willing to do to help out,” she said.
“It really gave me faith in people.”
