Football: it’s all here

– Peter Sweeney, sports editor.
FOOTY is back.
For many people, it’s the best time of year.
And no matter what club or league you follow, there’s only one newspaper to bring you the latest … from the grounds, the rooms and wherever people talk footy.
The Pakenham-Berwick Gazette is a winner, always a couple of kicks ahead of the competition. Or that’s what our readers report.
Experienced writers Ken Moore and Mark Gullick will cover the Ellinbank and District and Casey-Cardinia Football leagues respectively.
There’s a mixture of experience and youth, including Gavin Staindl, Justin Robertson, Jarrod Potter and yours truly to report on the Gippsland Power, Dandenong Sting-rays and Casey Scorpions.
Of course, Footy Shorts, for many folk the best-read column in the paper, is back to entertain and inform.
And what’s footy without high marks, long goals and strong tackles?
Pictorial editor Stewart Chambers and his team of Kim Cartmell, Donna Oates and Meagan Rogers will snap photos that will take you so close to the action, you’ll think you are part of it.
We haven’t forgotten the most important people … you, the spectators.
From the Outer, a new column, will tell the game through the eyes of fans. And there’s much, much, more.
