MORE than 500 people flocked to the Bunyip Show at the showgrounds last Saturday amid sunshine and blue skies.
President of the Bunyip District Agricultural Show Society, Mr Sean McLeish, said it was a complete success adding that the numbers were up from last year.
“At the gates, we are about $1000 up from last year,” he said, adding that final numbers are yet to be confirmed.
“And for those who missed it, you missed a really great family day,” he said.
Gate sales weren’t the only indicator of a successful event.
According to Mr McLeish, dog entries were up and well patronised and horse entries were well supported. For the kids, there were tons of prizes, giveaways and performers that kept them entertained, including an appearance from Jingles the clown.
The arts and crafts department was booming and saw a spike over last year with more than 200 entries overall. There were 236 photography entries, more than 100 jams and chutney jars in the preserves section while the cookery and needlework remained unchanged.
