Medal for B-Grader

ROBIN McCrae (B Grade) came in with a 66 nett off a handicap of 19 to win the April monthly medal at Pakenham Golf Club on Saturday.
The A Grade winner was Peter Buff and the C Grade went to Mark Stewart, both with a 67 nett. The scratch winner was Kevin Booker with 72 gross.
The nearest the pin on the second hole was won by Brad Beyers, with Geoff Percival taking out the fifth. Rob McCoubrie was the winner of the eighth hole and Nicholas McQualter was the winner of the 14th. The 16th hole went to Peter Dempster.
The second shot winners were Jon Game (sixth hole), Kevin Steven (11th) and Michael Bainbridge (17th).
Tym Davey won the A Grade longest drive with Rob Nobelius taking out the B Grade and Daryl Joiner the C Grade.
The Supa competition was won by Robin McCrae from Mark Stewart and Peter Buff.
Down the line ball winners were Neil Currie, Gary Burgess, Nicholas Sleep, Ross Stewart and Luke March, all 68, Glenn Davey, David Leek, Wayne Knudsen and Brett Mottrom, all 69, Robert Naismith, Sean Constable, Adrian Butler, Mark Woodbridge, Bernie Gramc, Steve J Osborne, Martin Harrison and Jon Game, all 70, Glenn Jamison, Kevin Shields, Ray Leonard, Kevin Booker, Daryl Joiner, Nicholas McQualter, Clive Smith and Graeme Steel, all 71, followed by those with 72, in Ken Steven, Leigh Cullen, Rob Sandiford and Michael Hildebrand.
The Yakkerboo trophy for 2011 was presented to Jason Duggan by Yakkerboo representative Graeme Moore. Each year the golf club hosts a competition around the Yakkerboo weekend. This year it was played on 1 April – no April Fool’s day joke – and Jason was the winner.
Next week is a men’s 4BBB event and the week after is Easter. Saturday, Sunday and Monday are stableford events and will include the Easter Cup, played over the three rounds with the best two rounds counting. (For those who play only two rounds, both count).
Bookings are essential over Easter.
The Tuesday after Easter is also a public holiday for Anzac Day, so those who normally play on Tuesdays should make sure to book in. A stableford event will be played on this holiday.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:PENNANT

Section 1: The Pakenham Section 1 Pennant team went to Traralgon to compete against Moe and came home with a 4/1 win.
Section 2: Pakenham played Yallourn at Traralgon, losing 6/3.
Section 3: Traralgon was the venue for the Section 3 Pennant team where they competed against Yallourn. Some close matches were played and Pakenham lost 5/4.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:MONDAY 4 APRIL

Merv Owen won the stableford competition with 43 points from Vjarn Du Priez and Greg Roberts with 40.
Nearest the pin on the second hole went to Merv Owen with the eighth hole won by Ron Livermore. Stan Gilbert took out the 14th hole.
Down the line ball winners were Dave Lummis 40, Geoff Sullivan, Eric Butcher 39, Cliff Pain, Ashley Graham and Ian Shennan 38, John Roberts, Hayden Bristow, Barry MacDonald and Brian Degering, all 37.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:WEDNESDAY 6 APRIL

David Shannon won the stroke competition on a countback from Peter Dempster and John Parker. All came in with 63 nett.
Down the line balls went to Alan Halleur and Barrie Seldon, Brian Degering and Bill Taberer 65, Lionel Mahony, John Piggott, Greg Roberts, Bob Dowse, Lou Russell and Keith Rice 66, Don Dalgleish and Peter Diss, 67, and Ray Shalders 68.
Nearest the pin on the second hole was won by Graeme Steel, with the fifth hole going to Cliff Pain. John Kingman was the winner on the eighth hole and Graeme repeated his triumph on the 14th hole and the 16th went to Bob Laidlaw.
The Supa competition went to David Shannon.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:TWILIGHT

The twilight competition is played all year round. It is a nine-hole comp starting at 1pm – and a handicap is not needed to compete. Hit-off must be before 4pm. Meals will be served from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
The first Wednesday in the month will be a roast carvery, the third a pasta night with a limited selection from the normal menu. The other two/three nights of the month will host a normal menu.
Last week saw Mick Boyd the winner with 21 points from Ray Leonard and Sean Henderson with 20 points.
The raffle was won by Lou Russell.

The Sunday competition was won by Joe Kozina with 41 from William Gourley 38, Peter Zoldak 37, Matt Yusoff 36 and Daryl Joiner 36.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:WOMEN

The April monthly medal was played in conjunction with the second round of the Silver Spoon. Kay Jones was the winner with 67 on a countback. The Division Two winner was Marie Barnbrook with 67 and the Division Three winner was Jenny Bayard with 71.
Rachel Lee from Outlook was presented with $1000 worth of gift vouchers, raised from the Pakenham Golf Club women’s charity day.
The nearest the pins saw Jenny Bayard take out the second hole with Yvonne Barrot the winner on the eighth hole and Sue Menzel the 14th.
The longest drives went to Maria Warburton (0-27), Wendy Carter (28-39) and Anne Donovan (40-45). Kerrie Davey won the putting with 27 putts on a countback.
Sue King with 68, Marg Andrews 69, Liz Garvey 70, Dawn Van Roy 71, Dini Krytenberg, Irene Walker, Roz King and Shirley Roberts, all 72, were the down the line winners.
Next week is the women’s Captain’s Knockout with 16 having qualified.
The Overflow event is matchplay. The following week is the next round of the captain’s knockout with the Overflow event being par.
