PAKENHAM teams Red and Blue contested the night grand final in Section One of the West Gippsland Tennis Association.
Red got off to great start, winning the first set 6-1 and was leading 5-3 in the second set before Blue staged a great comeback to win the set 7-5.
The third and fourth were very close, with Blue holding a steady nerve in both sets, 6-4 and 7-6. This meant Blue went into the final two sets leading three sets to one, with games level.
Red had to win both the remaining sets. They won one 6-4. But Blue was stronger on the night, winning the other set 6-2.
The final score was Pakenham Blue four sets, 31 games defeated Pakenham Red two sets 29 games.
The Section Two grand final was between Tooradin and Catani.
The first two sets were extremely close with Catani winning one of the sets 7-5 and Tooradin the other in a tiebreaker.
The third set saw Tooradin win another tiebreaker and it also won the fourth set 6-4. This meant Catani had to win both the final sets. It won one, 6-4, but Tooradin took the other 6-3.
The final score was Tooradin four sets 35 games to Catani’s two sets 32 games.
