THOUSANDS across the hills paused yesterday to reflect on the sacrifice Australia’s servicemen and women made for their freedom.
Marchers and onlookers filled Emerald’s main street, and gathered in Sassafras for the Dandenong Ranges RSL commemorations.
The Gembrook and Cockatoo sub-branches also held ceremonies.
More than 200 attended the Gembrook service, with more than 150 following an honour guard of HMAS Cerberus personnel to the service. Gembrook RSL president Tony Borg conducted the ceremony.
