POLICE have again called on motorists to ensure their vehicles are locked at all times.
Last Tuesday, 26 July, detectives interviewed and arrested a 19yearold man from Upper Beaconsfield following a series of thefts in the Narre Warren and Berwick areas during June.
The teenager was charged with seven counts of theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of theft from a motor vehicle and one count of deception.
He has been bailed to appear at the Dandenong Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 2 September.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ian Wilcox urged people not to leave expensive items, such as computers and mobile phones, in their cars in clear view of thieves.
“We certainly have been targeting car thefts and people stealing from motor vehicles and we will continue to do so,” he said.
“We have had some success.”
