Pakenham’s poor pennant day

SATURDAY was a disappointing pennant day for Pakenham Bowls Club with only eight rinks winning.

RESULTS

J. Power and team leading the way 34/9, D. Rowswell and team 21/27, J. Barr and team 16/23, I. Wake and team 19/23.
Pakenham (2) lost to Berwick –20 shots (four points).
With two rinks losing by a total of 28 shots was always going to be a battle.
P. McMahon and team 20/35, J. Donnazzan and team 18/31, N. Box and team 24/22, E. Gibb and team 25/19.
Pakenham (3) d Cranbourne +3 (14 points).
Two rinks winning in a thriller saw Pakenham hold on to record a win.
P. Baxter and team 28/25, B. Dawson and team 27/13, J. Dyer and team 14/25, L. Brown and team 23/26.
Pakenham (4) lost to Glen Waverley –5 (4 points).
In a close game all day the fours were unable to bridge the gap in a high-standard game.
W. Rose and team 18/17, J. Hickman and team 19/25, J. Telford and team 15/19, J. Wilbert and team 22/18.
Pakenham (5) lost to Keysborough.
The main scoreboard remained blank all day, maybe to hide the lopsided scores.
S. Anthans and team 12/33, T. Smart and team 12/23, R. Niddre and team 21/19.
Sunday pairs – with some interesting games, held the large spectator group witnessed some fine bowling.
