Pakenham’s poor pennant day

SATURDAY was a disappointing pennant day for Pakenham Bowls Club with only eight rinks winning.

RESULTS

Pakenham (1) d Glen Waverley +8 shots (12 points).
J. Power and team leading the way 34/9, D. Rowswell and team 21/27, J. Barr and team 16/23, I. Wake and team 19/23.
Pakenham (2) lost to Berwick –20 shots (four points).
With two rinks losing by a total of 28 shots was always going to be a battle.
P. McMahon and team 20/35, J. Donnazzan and team 18/31, N. Box and team 24/22, E. Gibb and team 25/19.
Pakenham (3) d Cranbourne +3 (14 points).
Two rinks winning in a thriller saw Pakenham hold on to record a win.
P. Baxter and team 28/25, B. Dawson and team 27/13, J. Dyer and team 14/25, L. Brown and team 23/26.
Pakenham (4) lost to Glen Waverley –5 (4 points).
In a close game all day the fours were unable to bridge the gap in a high-standard game.
W. Rose and team 18/17, J. Hickman and team 19/25, J. Telford and team 15/19, J. Wilbert and team 22/18.
Pakenham (5) lost to Keysborough.
The main scoreboard remained blank all day, maybe to hide the lopsided scores.
S. Anthans and team 12/33, T. Smart and team 12/23, R. Niddre and team 21/19.
Sunday pairs – with some interesting games, held the large spectator group witnessed some fine bowling.

LADIES

Peninsula District Ladies Bowling Association pennant results, round five, 15 November.
All games in divisions one, two and three were cancelled because of inclement weather.

COMING EVENTS

Friday, 25 November: Friday night twilight bowls and barbecue dinner.
Non-bowlers’ barbecue served at 7pm, bowlers’ barbecue served at 7.30pm.
Carpet bowls still available for non-twilight bowlers.
Names must be down on list for dinner by 2pm Friday, or no dinner.
Saturday, 26 November: RVBA pennant round 10. Berwick v Pakenham (1). Pakenham (2) v Noble Park. Cranbourne RSL (2) v Pakenham (3). Pakenham (4) v Noble Park (5). Pakenham (5) v Glen Eira McKinnon (9).
Sunday, 27 November: Ray White mixed fours, 1.30pm start – whites to be worn.
Tuesday, 29 November: PDLBA pennant round seven: Frankston RSL v Pakenham (1). Pakenham (2) v Somerville. City of Frankston v Pakenham (3).
