BreastScreen Victoria encourages women in Pakenham and surrounds not to delay two-yearly breast screen
Pakenham’s first permanent BreastScreen clinic opened in February, replacing a two-yearly visit by the program’s mobile screening van.
While this new fixed clinic ensures that breast screening is available to local people year-round, a portion of the community have not returned for this important health check since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
A breast screen is recommended for all women and eligible trans and gender diverse people every two years, between the ages of 50-74. They are the best way to find cancer early-before symptoms present and when treatment is most likely to be successful.
A breast screen can find cancer as small as a grain of rice, long before it can be seen or felt.
Pakenham BreastScreen is fitted with modern facilities and state-of-the-art imaging technology. The friendly staff are trained to provide a quick and easy screening experience in under 10 minutes. There’s no need for a doctor’s referral or Medicare card.
