FORMER NBL-star Darryl McDonald is coming to Pakenham.
The popular Melbourne Tigers guard and ex-Tigers coach, commonly known as ‘D-Mack’, will take a two-day basketball boot camp for local basketball enthusiasts in the July school holidays.
The Hoopdreams basketball camp, designed by McDonald, who played more than 480 games in the NBL, will take place on 7-8 July at Cardinia Life. McDonald is encouraging girls and boys between the ages of six and 16 to sign up.
“It’s about enjoying yourself, having fun, and learning discipline through sport and basketball,” McDonald said.
“It is for all levels of talent.
“I will be teaching a variety of stuff … not just one thing. (In the teaching will be) Dribbling, shooting, passing skills, as well as other fundamentals, and we’ll be handing out prizes and trophies for not the best players, but the players who try their best.
“I want to teach kids to follow their dreams and if it is basketball you want to play, then you can follow those dreams. That’s why we call it Hoopdreams.
“In my eight years with the Tigers, we came to Pakenham quite a bit, and I know the Tigers weren’t going to be there this year … so I am trying to branch out a bit and keep everyone involved.”
To sign up, get in contact with Cardinia Life on 5945 2888 or through the Hoopdreams website.
