GARFIELD’S golf playing ladies had a “fly-in, fly-out” guest player recently.
The visitor was last seen flying over the 10th fairway and the 15th green, coming to rest on a branch on the side of the 13th rough.
It was hoped Mary Poppins enjoyed her day, despite losing her hurricane-proof umbrellas.
The other guest player, Mrs Strixon (brand of golf ball) didn’t enjoy the high winds and only made it to the 10th before breaking, coming to rest in the 11th bin, where she still remains.
Meanwhile, cooler weather kept numbers down for the Walter and Eliza Hall charity day for ladies.
The winners were D. Huyskens and C. Stewart on 49 points, the runners-up on a countback were M. Bowers and V. Templeton on 44.
The best nine went to L. Matthews and D. Pilkington on 23 points.
