AN EXTRA 120 head, cold wet conditions and mixed quality greeted at all attending Baw Baw Livestock Exchange, Warragul, last Wednesday.
Demand was easier, especially in the lighter end, and top prices were also back slightly in some categories.
Sixty four bullocks were offered and remained relatively firm at 178.1 cents.
Weights and quality were on par with last sale and the top sale was five cents up at 192.2 cents.
Twenty four heifers were lighter in condition and size but rose nine cents to 172.5 cents.
The smaller yarding pushed buyers for necessary stock. Heifers topped at 210 cents up 21 cents on last sale.
One hundred and ten steers rose nine cents as well to 182.7 cents.
The yarding was similar to last sale, and the top was 10 cents better at 220.2. cents
Two hundred and fifty eight vealers reached 265 cents, marginally lighter, easier quality veal slipped in price, with the average back nine cents to 209.3 cents. Weights this week also averaged lighter.
Less beef cows were penned on Thursday, with dairy cows having to take up the slack with 355 head penned.
Cows slipped three cents to 134.2 cents on average, with the lack of heavy beef cows this would be regarded as remaining firm. The top for cows was 167 cents.
Eight bulls sold, eased to 142.2 cents on average, and the top slipped to 160.2 cents, lighter weights and condition the main factor.
