Kooweerup township meeting

Station moves
KOOWEERUP Sergeant Kevin Isles addressed residents at the Kooweerup Township meeting, confirming the new police station was expected to be completed in September.
The original date of completion was April this year.
Sgt Isles said that two extra staff would be employed at the new station, which he believed would increase police presence at night time.

Footpath on track
THE footpath between the walking track bridge in Station Street and William Street in Kooweerup will be upgraded as part of the council’s 2011-2012 budget.
Councillor Stuart Halligan told residents that the Port Ward would receive $1.6 million in the latest budget.
Other work included in the budget would be the installation of a synthetic surface at the bowls club at a cost of $150,000 and improvements to the road and car park at the Senior Citizens Club.
The netball club in the township is also set to be upgraded.
No pain from drain
DAMAGE to the drainage pipe in Rossiter Road has been fixed. It is not known how the pipe sustained the damage.

On the right path
TOWNSHIP committee member Jack Nunn addressed residents about the footpath between the secondary college and Denhams Road. He asked Cardinia Shire Council to look into constructing a footpath.
“This would be a great safety feature for the area and would keep students off the highway,” he said.
Park back in play
WORK began in early July on the beautification project of Cochrane Park. Rain in the early stages halted work on the park, which has since recommenced.
