LOCAL charity 4Cs is holding a golf day at the Beaconhills Golf Club to raise much needed funds for the organisation.
Former Hawthorn football player Michael Tuck is the ambassador for the event and will be present on the day.
Many sponsors have jumped on board the worthy cause, including the Cardinia Club, RMBL Investments, Facey Industrial Commercial and Heritage Springs.
Organisers John Barker and Barry Pitcher said they were pleased to get so much help from local businesses.
“These companies are good corporate community citizens and anyone who can use their services on behalf of the food bank, we ask you to help us by supporting them,” Mr Pitcher said.
There are only 12 places left for the golf day, with 120 people already signed up. A three course meal and an auction will follow the game.
Beaconhills Golf Club has donated a free new membership to auction off but 4Cs is still looking for more donations.
“We are looking for 10 unique items that you can’t buy from retail outlets, which can be auctioned for a value of $1000 each,” Mr Pitcher said.
“For example, a president’s lunch for four people at a major football or horse racing event or any major sporting event.
“We ask anyone that can help put us in touch with people in these organisations to give us a call.”
They hope to raise about $30,000.
“We hope this event will become an annual event and form one of the major fundraisers for the food bank,” Mr Pitcher said.
4Cs is a non profit crisis relief centre that offers food, emergency accommodation and emergency relief such as bill payments for gas, electricity and water for people in need.
It helped more than 28,000 people in Cardinia shire last year.
The golf day will be held on Friday 18 November at 1pm.
