THE Fat Sale on Wednesday last week at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange, Warragul, saw 364 head penned.
Prices varied with mixed quality evident, and several pens of good stores which sold to strong demand.
Overall the yarding was two cents easier but several categories recorded good rises.
Twenty nine bullocks averaged two cents better at 184.3 cents, with a top price of 195.6 cents. Weights were marginally lighter.
Twenty eight heifers were hit hardest, easing to 167.8 cents and topping at 198 cents.
Fifty eight steers also eased, this time by six cents to 191.2 cents but recorded a good top price of 221.6 cents.
Two hundred and nineteen vealers with stores included averaged 223.6 cents, restockers paid to 279.6 cents for store lots and processors paid to 276.2 cents, with some light stores making to 301.2 cents.
Bulls and cows on Thursday both recorded very good gains, with a larger yarding compared to last week.
Twenty seven bulls were offered and made to 197.2 cents, 25 cents up on the previous sale, and the average was 12 cents better at 171.6 cents.
Four hundred and seventeen cows rose 7.5 cents on average to 146.5 cents and the top was 183.6 cents.
Twenty three bulls averaged 186.3 this week with the top making to 191.2 cents.
