TWELVE members of the Cardinia Beaconhills Golf Club travelled to Portsea on Saturday for the reverse leg of the annual Hillsea Shield event.
Heading down with a 41-point lead, they kept their noses in front to hang on to the shield for another 12 months.
Captain James Coughlin led from the front with 38 points.
He was also the designated bus driver, leaving the other 11 free to enjoy themselves, which they did!
Back at Cardinia Beaconhills the course was in mint condition for Saturday’s Stableford event.
A Grade winner for the day on a countback was Kevin Candy (12) with 42 points.
Aaron Couper (17) won B Grade also with 42 and C Grade went to Paul Carroll (21) with 44 on a countback.
Tony McNamee (28) was the winner of Sunday’s Stableford competition with 44 points.

Chris Larwood (18) won Tuesday’s Stableford competition with 42 points from runner-up Tim Djofield (24) on a countback.
The women’s Stableford event on Wednesday saw Bev Eckhardt (17) win the day with 35 points on a countback from Robin Lafferty.
The women also played the first round of the Spring Classic.
In A Grade, Libby Michell beat Ann Felgate 8/7, Rosalie Leake forfeited to Ros Harding and Jenny Chandler defeated Heather Hamilton 3/1.
In B Grade, Helen Lange beat Lida Patak 1 up, Lesley Patterson defeated Kim Pitcher 6/4, Barbara Mars beat Jean Wheatley 3/2 and Elaine Newman got the better of Mary Griffin on the 19th hole.
Thursday’s Ambrose event was won by Michael Tierney, Dave Steele and Ross Edwards with a combined hand-icap of 9 1/3, returning a nett score of 57 2/3.
A group of 30 members from the club headed to Bairnsdale on the weekend for the annual mixed trip.
Defending champions, husband-and-wife team Brad and Barbara Mars won the 2011 Lex Hoogenboom Trophy, their third success.
The overall best male player on the weekend was Romney Whitchurch and best female was Barbara Mars.
