Field small but spirits high

DESPITE the wet weather the October monthly medal went ahead at Drouin Golf Club on Saturday with a small field contesting the day.
Due to the small field there was only one grade winner and Mark Ryan was that player with a nett 70 playing off a 17 handicap.
Runner-up was Matthew Ryan with 71 on a count back from Tony Piner.
Nearest the pins went to Steve Roberts (second), Tony Piner (fifth), Mark Ryan (14th) and Dave Hamilton on the 17th.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:Wednesday Stableford

Gordon Warren shot a handicap busting 43 points to win B Grade and return the best score of the day in all grades.
Roy Hansen trailed in Warren’s wake to be runner-up, five shots back on 38 points on a count back from Roy Hansen and Mike Roberts.
Rob Piner playing off a handicap of 12 was the best of the A Grade players, finishing in stormy conditions but still managing a great score of 40 points.
Mike Santo was runner-up with 36 points on a count back from Lea Caldwell.
C Grade was hotly contested with Reg Dixon saluting the judge with 41 points.
Ray Cropley was runner-up with 40 points on a count back from Bill Dietachmayer.
Balls down the line went to 37 points.
Nearest the pins went to Graham Rawson (second), John Wolswinkel (fifth), Mick Hanley (14th) and Rob Piner on the 17th.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:Drouin ladies

Last week was a per event for the women with Marg Rowe taking out A Grade with plus one, Mary Clark was runner-up finishing square with the card.
A similar scenario greeted the B Grade scorers hut with Mel Tanner winning with plus one from Marg Heslin who was all square.
Winner of the nine hole competition was Betsy White with 18 points from runner-up Jan Stone on 17 points.
Mary Tymensen picked up the propin and the nearest the pin went to Helen Moon.
Down the line balls went to Val Johnson and Olive Reid, square, with Ethel Manley finishing one down.
Winner from last Saturday was Mary Clark on plus 5, she had five shots up her sleeve to Glenda Warren and Val Johnson who finished square.
This year’s Match Committee is Glenda Warren, Karen Adams, Mary Clark, Marg Purcell, Leanne Pollard, Viv Brereton, and Robyn Eacott.
Give Golf A Go clinics are being held for four consecutive weeks starting on Monday 7 November between 10am and 11am.
The Saturday series of clinics starts on 5 November between 2pm and 3pm.

The club is running an 18 hole open competition each Monday and visitors are most welcome.
Also, every Thursday through daylight savings time the club will be running a twilight event that coincides with bistro night.
