Ab-solutely fabulous

CRAZY, Stupid, Love has a little crazy, a little silliness and a lotta love.
When my boyfriend said he wanted to see Crazy, Stupid, Love, I jumped at the chance to not have to drag him to a chick flick.
He was expecting The Office-style comedy interlaced with some smooching and loving but he wasn’t disappointed when it didn’t turn out that way.
There are some twists, turns and love triangles as the story unravels but with plenty of sentimental moments and laughs in between.
Steve Carell plays disheartened divorcee, Cal, to perfection, as he is faced with the single scene after his wife Emily, played by Julianne Moore, unexpectedly announces she wants a divorce (no spoiler alert – it happens in the opening scene).
Cal gets a bit of an update on tackling modern dating from Ryan Gosling’s character Jacob (he’s the one with ‘those’ abs in the trailer) – a successful ladies man with his eye on Hannah, played by Emma Stone.
The only time my enjoyment of the film faltered came during one of the final scenes, when it all gets a little bit too clichéd and the ‘lesson learnt’ is passed onto the younger generation.
But it was not enough to change my view that Crazy, Stupid, Love is an enjoyable adult romantic comedy – with ‘those’ abs thrown in for good measure. – Nicole Williams
