Students leading St James

Meet the St James Student Leadership Team.

Students in Year Six are invited to apply for and then interview for leadership positions at St James. In their applications, students articulated their commitment to St James and how they could give of themselves and their own time to support younger students and various initiatives in their school.

They have already demonstrated their passion for leadership in supporting their Foundation Buddies as they navigated their first weeks at school and worked to support all students both on the yard and with their learning.

The Student Leaders meet with their Principal and Deputy Principal regularly, as student voice is an essential element to contemporary learning and child safety. While the students work as a team, they are responsible for two distinctive portfolios – Catholic Identity and Sport. The Catholic Identity leaders work with their Religious Education Leader to support school Masses, prayer and Catholic Social Justice initiatives, while the Sport Leaders will play an active role in planning for and coaching in preparation for a variety of sporting events.

As a collective, the Student Leadership Team also supports the school’s many community activities.

Both staff and students are looking forward the work of this newly reimagined way of being leaders and there is no doubt that this group’s leadership aspirations will not be limited to just their time in Year Six.

St James Catholic Primary School, Nar Nar Goon – 60 Nar Nar Goon Rd, Nar Nar Goon, telephone 5942 5404.
