Brooker bats get going

GEMBROOK’S first XI batsmen had a good day, scoring 222 against Nar Nar Goon-Maryknoll.

C GRADE

Gembrook hosted Nar Nar Goon-Maryknoll and was sent in.
In tight opening spells the Goon bowlers took the first wicket at 10 and the second at 18.
Anthony Williams was next to go for an attacking 40 and Gembrook was 3/73 at tea.
Excellent spells by Mitchell Abbot and Tom Van Diemen kept the scoring rate down before Gembrook broke the shackles and started scoring freely. Captain Daniel Woodd was out for 45 after an 85-run partnership with Craig Heppell, who top-scored with an excellent 52.
Steady progress by the Gembrook batsmen saw the score to 222 all out in the 68th over on a slow ground.

E GRADE

Gembrook played away at Devon Meadows. Devon Meadows batted first to be 9/261 at stumps.
The best of the Gembrook bowlers was Anthony Anderson with 3/46 off 20 overs and he was assisted by Damian Martini (2/14 off two overs) and Jy Berryman with (2/27 off 12 overs).

F GRADE

Gembrook played PUT at home and batted first, only Matt Failla (11) making double figures. Gembrook was all out for 24.
At stumps PUT had reached 5/95.
Gembrook fielded and bowled very well with the best of Gembrook bowlers being Failla (2/7 off six overs), Kade Brindley (2/20 off five overs) and Conor Johnstone (1/15 off four overs).
Gembrook played well in the field but fell in a hole at the crease.
