Wintery conditions returned to Cardinia Beaconhills on Saturday for the second round of the Summer Cup.
The following four pairs overcame the conditions and their opponents to advance to the semi finals to be played this week. David Coates and Malcolm Chambers, Jordan Denereaz and Luke Whitworth, Warren Sutton and Arthur Bailey and Kevan Candy and Graeme Inglefinger.
Playing off a handicap of seven, A Grade player Wayne Ball won Saturday’s Stroke competition with a terrific nett score of 65, given the wet conditions. Aaron Couper won B Grade with a nett score of 70 on a count back and the C Grade winner was Ken Smirk with a 69 nett.
Sunday’s Stableford competition was won by new club member Shane Edwards; playing off a handicap of 22 he returned a score of 40 points.

Tuesday’s Stableford competition drew a field of 52 players with Roy Lyness (16) winning the day. Lyness defeated Terry Lovell (22) on a count back after both players returned terrific scores of 41 points.
Wednesday saw the playing of the President’s versus Captain’s Day, a Stableford event played by the ladies. The President’s team won the event with 321 points, with Bev Eckhardt (17) having the best score on the winning team with 38 points. Of the Captain’s Team, Noelene King (37) had the best score with 36 points.
A Grade player Ian McLean (15) won Thursday’s Stableford competition with 42 points on a count back. Brian Czempinski (23) won B Grade with 42 points.
The Cardinia-Pakenham Food Bank Golf Day was held on Friday, this event was attended by local businesses in support of the Food Bank which supplies up to $50,000 worth of food each month to residents in the Cardinia Shire.
