THE Garfield Golf Club travelled to Mirboo North on Saturday to take on the locals in the annual challenge event for the Jabba Jabba Shield.
It was well worth the trip as young Pete Vanderhorst led Garfield to victory with 39 points, Duane Peacock was next best on 38 points. Garfield’s average score was 33.8 which was too good for the home side who averaged 32.4.
Back at Garfield a reduced field still shot some great scores with Terry Webster (12) winning A Grade with 41 points. Lou Milner (20) played high quality golf to win B Grade with 42 points while John Dineen (23) was too good in C Grade with 40 points.
Down the line balls went to B.Lidstone 42, G.Turner, M.Whyte, M.Adkin, P.Skinner and G.Gray on 40 with S.Male, R.Norton, C.Hunter, N.Watson and S.Fordaam on 39 points.
Nearest the pins went to G.Gray (fourth), B.Bateup (eighth), M.Hirt (ninth), C.Hunter (11th), C.Hardy (14th) and P.Govaars on the 16th. Closest second shots went to D.Smith on the fifth and D.Craig from Howlong on the seventh.

Nearest the pins went to T.Franklin (fourth), H.Thomas (eighth), P.Lacey (ninth), M.Kelly (11th), D.Bassed (14th) and G.Mckay on the 16th. Secret nine winner was P.King.
