Last lap for missing link

Cardinia Shire Councillor Brett Owen said the footpath would improve pedestrian safety, and that it was a great result for residents.
The footpath is between O’Neil Road and Glissman Road.
“I am pleased that council is close to completing the vital pedestrian link between Panorama estate and the Beaconsfield township,” he said.
“It is an issue I have been advocating for years now, and I am pleased that the final link is almost complete.”
Cr Owen said he had received calls from Panorama Estate and O’Neil Road residents over the past few years about the possibility of a footpath.
“I’ve spoken to a lot of residents who have wanted this link, and we’ve been able to provide it through the Annual Footpath Program,” he said.
The final stage of the project between the traffic lights and O’Neil Road is expected to be completed early next year.
“Council placed a condition on the developer’s subdivision that they must construct this footpath,” he said.
Cr Owen said by council making the developer provide a footpath, the completion of this pedestrian connection was expected 12 months ahead of time.
