Sunny Saturday pulls a crowd

SATURDAY was a Stableford event at Drouin Golf Club with 123 players enjoying excellent weather and course conditions to match.
In A-Grade the winner was Tim Blackwood (14) with 40 points winning by a shot from runner-up Paul Hopkinson on 39. Jack Henning also had 39 with Peter Downward and Bob Porter a shot further back on 38.
B Grade winner Jayden Bibby (23) had the day’s best score with 42 points. Runner- up was Garry Graves on 40 points with Michael Barry 39, Shane McKiernan 38 and Erroll Hopkinson 37 all having good days on the course.
In C Grade the winner was Geoff Bjorksten (33) with 37 points from runner-up Gerry Englested on 35. Balls down the line went to 37 points on a count back.
Nearest the pins went to Peter Daniel (second), John Paul Santo (fifth pro-pin) and Peter Daniel on the 17th.
It was another wet start to last Wednesday, eliminating many of our regular early morning starters from the field. However things improved enough for 48 players to get a game in later on.
This meant one grade only and the winner was Beau Wheeler (7) visiting from Pakenham. Wheeler won with 39 points from runner-up Michael Johnson 37 and Colin Hunt 36. Balls went down to as low as 32 points on a count back. Nearest the pins went to Tom Pinkerton (second), Rob Woodward (fifth pro-pin) and Reg Dixon on the 14th.
This Saturday is the Summer Cup which is a Par Pairs Aggregate. A reminder that entry forms are now out for the Clark First National/Drouin Community Bank Pro-Am to be held on Tuesday 28 February.
