Pakenham Show

SCHEDULES for Pakenham’s 2012 annual show, to be held at Pakenham Racecourse on Saturday, 17 March, are now available.
Copies can be picked up from the Star News office in Army Road, Pakenham, from show secretary Des Wynne (phone 0417 036 669) or from Pakenham Produce in Bald Hill Road, Pakenham; Lazy Frog in Main Street, Pakenham, or Sewing Connection, Post Office Arcade, Main Street, Pakenham.
Following the very successful centenary show in 2011, an exciting program has already been planned for this year’s event.
As usual the schedule contains numerous sections for horses, cattle, sheep, dogs, goats, poultry and much, much more.
As always, it is expected that the colourful and varied display of farm and garden produce, flowers, cooking, home products, photography, artwork and school displays in the main racecourse dining room area will rival similar displays across the state of Victoria.
School children in particular are encouraged to look through the schedule and start planning now to enter as many sections a possible.
The show committee meets monthly and has been putting together a great program for the big day.
Over the past few years several new and very enthusiastic younger members have joined the committee, and their enthusiasm and new ideas have been warmly welcomed.
But at the same time the committee has lost some wonderful older members, through ill-health and for other reasons.
If you are interested in horses, cattle, sheep, dogs… in fact any animals, or just enjoy being part of a busy committee that works hard to entertain the families around Pakenham, and also from much further afield, give show president Michael Bishop a call (59 411052), talk to secretary Des Wynne (0417 036 669) or come along to the society’s next meeting, at Pakenham Racecourse on Wednesday 8 February.
