Off to a great start

THE Cardinia Waters Tuesday Pennant side started the year well with a win over the visiting Hampton Park in very hot and windy conditions.
The victory was hard fought with the home side only one shot up at the lunch break, but a big finish from Lindsay Cameron’s rink of Marion Stevens, Cliff Heath and Bryan Stevens made the difference. All played well for a 37 shots to nine win and an overall score of 71 to 51.
Dennis Patmore, Rae Richardson, Stuart Tokely and skipper Wendy Titcombe were narrow losers, going down on the last end to lose 19/20. Jim Barrie’s rink of Fiona Samson, Anna Barrie and Pat Hutchinson battled hard all day but lost 15 shots to 22.
This week’s game is at Cheltenham.
The undefeated Saturday side travelled to Chelsea and came home with its winning run intact after a huge 114 to 55 victory. Club singles champions in skipper Bryan Stevens and wife Marion as leader, with Doug Richardson and John Cazaly continued their great form with a club record score of 44 shots to four.
The other three rinks were all winners, the best being Lindsay Cameron as skipper with Bill Hite, Wendy Titcombe and Brian Byrne winning 24 to 14. David Blake returned as skipper and with Dennis Smith, Alan Brodie and Chris Mulcock won 25 to 20 and John Van Vugt skipped Gunter Baumbach, John Hutchinson and Jim Barrie to a 21/17 win.
This Saturday the division leaders will host the Mulgrave Country Club and then have two away games.
