Kinder extends its thanks

IF NAR Nar Goon is anything to go by, local communities band together when the going is tough.
Last year, the Nar Nar Goon Kindergarten was flooded and closed for two weeks to clean up the damage caused by the deluge.
One year on and with a newly renovated centre, new flooring and major drainage works, the staff at the kindergarten are saying thank you for the community support.
“Twelve months on thanks to our wonderful community, a dedicated and hard working building team and terrific collaboration with the council we have opened in a newly renovated centre,” director Linda English said.
The community raised $45,000 towards the renovations and drainage works completed in the months since the floods will ensure that the threat of flooding is minimized.
“The Nar Nar Goon community and past families had been incredibly supportive not only in managing our flood closure but in raising significant funds to apply for a council grant for our renovations,” she said.
“The grant allowed us to create a new children’s bathroom with access from the rear playground, large storeroom and a separate adult and disabled toilet.”
Ms English thanked Cardinia Shire Council for its help.
“While the works were being done, council took the opportunity to get our builder to also rip up all the old rotted flooring, replace it and the stumps as well as dig out underneath to create better drainage to the site,” she said.
The builder who worked on the centre, Alan Tivendale, also received a warm thank you.
“He had a fantastic team working tirelessly over the holidays without break to ensure the works would be completed on time and with no disruption to the start of the school year,” she said.
Kinder students started in early February and parents were thrilled with the new-look centre.
