Fresh Waters spring winners

THE Cardinia Waters Bowls Club has made it two out of two pennant flags in their first year of competition.
The midweek mixed side made it to the final with an easy 84 shot to 48 win over Cranbourne at home on Tuesday, with all three rinks up.
On Thursday the same 12 players travelled to Noble Park to play against Cheltenham in the decider.
It was close all day but Cardinia Waters kept in front throughout and came away 60 to 54 winners.
Wendy Titcombe, Dennis Patmore, Rae Richardson and Lindsay Cameron got away to a good lead, only to falter after lunch. But they recovered, finishing strongly for a 24/14 win.
Jim Barrie with his wife Anna at second, Doug Richardson and Pat Hutchinson held on for a 20 to 18 win.
Bryan Stevens and his wife Marion, John Cazaly and Stuart Tokely came up against strong opposition and had a rare loss, 16/22. The team will now contest the Division Finals and will play against Clayton at Burden Park in the first game.
The Monday night triples competition has been finalised.
Due to rain on semi-finals night, the games were played on Monday morning with the final at night.
Alan Brodie, David Blake and skipper Bill Hite defeated Garry Salomons, and Rae and Doug Richardson.
Skipper Brian Stevens, wife Marion and Eddie Roberts defeated Mick Knight, Jim Smith and skipper John Van Vugt.
In the final, the Stevens rink, with Eddie Roberts leading, got away to a handy lead after 10 ends but a “seven” to Bill Hite’s team on the 11th end gave them a three shot lead and they held on to win the shield.
