Bomber bats buckle

EMERALD’S Agrade team struggled with the bat to score 176 against Clyde on Saturday.
Mark and David Alenson opened and got the Bombers off to a steady start and batted until the 35th over until David was out for 17.
Then Mark found support in Brodie Lucas as the pair saw it out until tea with the score on 2/88.
After tea the Bombers batting collapsed as the score fell to 7/141 with Lucas out for 36 and Alenson for a great 64.
Liam Meggarell batted well at the end to post 36.
Clyde had three overs with the bat and is 0/14.

Playing Clyde at Avonsleigh the Bombers batted first, got off to a bad start and didn’t improve as the score fell to 9/59 after 29 overs.
It was left to Nick Kearton and Robbie Stewart to get the Bombers up to a competitive score.
Stewart made 39 and Kearton 23 not out as the Bombers reached 106.
Emerald had 20 overs to bowl in the heat did well. Cam Williams bowled 10 overs straight and got 1/22 and Jay Kleinsmit took one wicket and Clyde at stumps was 2/47.

A good win last week gave Emerald second spot on the ladder and it was keen to continue the momentum against Catani.
Bowling first the Bombers had to wait until the 12th over for the first wicket.
In the hot conditions the decision to bowl looked bad after they were 2/70, but then Julian Powell came into the attack and ripped through Catani’s bats.
With support from Chris Alenson they helped to dismiss Catani for 129. Powell picked up 6/50 off 13 overs and Alenson claimed 2/23 off seven.
Emerald then went out with 27 overs to bat and did well to be 3/68.
Lee Ligtermoet made 21, while Kieron Thoms batted patiently to be 24 not out.

Emerald played Cardinia away and got off to a great start, being asked to field and soon having the opposition 6/27.
Aaron Cameron and Eric Glazner did the early damage and then Robert Wynne came on and continued the form of the openers and got two quick wickets.
Col McNeil, Euan Thoms and Daniel Carlton all chipped in with a wicket each as the Bombers rolled the strong Cardinia team for 114 in the 47th over.
Aaron Cameron ended up with the best figures, collecting 4/22 off 13 overs.
The Bombers had 13 overs to bat and despite the loss of three wickets were still in a good position at 3/53. Kade Ely was best with the bat making 24.

Emerald bowled first and didn’t do too well as Merinda Park made 170 off 35 overs.
Byron Porter 2/24, Gary Santini 2/28 and Ben Wright 2/20 all bowled well as the Bombers fought it out until the end.
In reply the Bombers struggled and were bowled out for 85. Jim Burke made an excellent 53 and was the only batsman to reach double figures.

UNDER 16 RED

The Reds played Beacy Tigers and batting first the Bombers struggled as they were bowled out for 40 off 30 overs.
Brock Barlow was the best as he held his bat through nearly the whole innings to be 14 not out.
Corey Sweeney made seven.
With seven overs to bowl, the Bombers did well to restrict the opposition to 2/15.
Corey Sweeney picked up 2/8 off four overs.

Emerald played Officer and Rob Wynne and Dan Leversha ripped through the batting line up as the opposition was dismissed for 28.
Leversha picked up 5/10 off eight overs and Wynne 2/17 also off eight.
Emerald batted and got 45 quick runs before declaring.
Wynne made 13 and Ash Lucas 11 as the Bombers lost three wickets.
Officer had 12 overs to bat and is 2/24. Euan Thoms and Jayden Thompson claimed the wickets.
