Modern look at history

THE Australian Great War Association will reenact the famous 1920 photo taken at the refurbished Beaconsfield War Memorial this Sunday at 10am in preparation for Anzac Day in April.
The original photo was taken at the unveiling of the Cenotaph in March 1920 which was established to commemorate those who served for Australia in WWI.
Members of the Australian Great War Association will join members of the Berwick, Beaconsfield and Pakenham RSL subbranches to reenact the original photo. The Cenotaph stands on the corner of Wood Street and Princes Highway, Beaconsfield, and was recently restored with a $5500 grant from the State Government.
The refurbishment was made at the request of the Beaconsfield Progress Association and will form part of the official Beaconsfield Anzac Day service.
The reenactment will feature the identical uniforms to those worn by the soldiers with the participants standing in the exact positions of the Diggers in the original photo.
