Eagles fly high

BEACONSFIELD seniors turned on a powerful sevengoaltonil third quarter to down a persistent Hampton Park by 64 points on Saturday.
Kicking to the clubhouse end at the Perc Allison Reserve in the first quarter, the Eagles battled hard to gain an advantage from a firedup Redback outfit.
Although Beaconsfield was leading at the first break, Hampton Park had the breeze in the second.
Daniel Charles was in everything early and the intensity lifted a notch as Haydn Robins made his presence felt.
At halftime Beaconsfield had drawn away to be comfortable leaders.
It was more of the same after the long break. Chris Kelf was at his best, with Rob Taylor and Ash Drake completing the clearances and the margin grew to 10 goals.
To Hampton Park’s credit, it continued to work at its game and matched the Eagles in a freeflowing last quarter.
Scores: Beaconsfield 20.17.137 d Hampton Park 10.13.73.
Goals: Haydn Robins 6, Luke McConnell 3, Daniel Mislicki 3, Justin Duffy 2, James Magner 2, Ryan Jolliffe, Rob Taylor, Troy Aylen, David Williams, 1.
Best: Chris Kelf, Daniel Charles, Rob Taylor, Ash Drake, James Magner.

RESERVES

Beaconsfield faced topoftheladder Hampton Park and had no answers for the run of the Redbacks and unable to force the ball into the forward 50metre arc was 10 goals down by halftime.
Any hopes of a revival after the interval were quickly put to rest as Hampton Park outclassed the Eagles.
Scores: Beaconsfield 4.3.27 lost to Hampton Park 19.16.130.
Goals: Dale Hynes, Shaun Krause, Ryan Price, 1.
Best: Adrian Jolliffe, Gareth Helliar, Steven Munday, Ryan Price, Paul Rutter, Dale Hynes.

UNDER 18

The young Eagles have been working towards putting in a full fourquarter effort and did it well this week.
The team had a clear height advantage and used it well to comfortably account for Hampton Park.
Scores: Beaconsfield 18.12.120 d Hampton Park 7.8.50
Goals: Jarrad Boumann 6, Mitchell Collins 5, Joel Gibson 3, Daniel Kowalski 2, Paul Van Lambaart, Aaron Gwozdziewski, 1.
Best: Ryan Olsson, Mitchell Collins, Sam Benbow, Jarrad Boumann, Andrew Campbell, Joel Gibson

COLTS

The Eagle Colts travelled to Hallam for another Friday night game and won a close game by three points.
It was to be a disappointing first half by the Eagles with players often second to the ball and not sufficiently focussed.
After a half time address by coach John Webb, the side lifted its workrate and piled on seven goals in the third quarter to make the scores level going into the last stanza.
The momentum was with the Eagles and they held Hallam at bay.
Scores: Beaconsfield 11.12.72 d Hallam 10.9.69.
Goals: S. Jolliffe 5, N. Hamilton 2, J. Dodsworth, D. Fellows, R. Pavitt, M. Whamond, 1.
Best: M. Griffiths, M. Brown, S. Jolliffe, J. Dodsworth, D. Fellows, R. George.
