Pennant flies at Beaconhills

BEACONHILLS Country Golf Club is flying the flag after its reserve one pennant team won the division final against Mornington on Sunday.
The final was played at Rosebud and Beaconhills ended the season on a high note, finishing on top of the ladder undefeated.
It was an exciting final after nine holes all matches were close and a winner could not be called.
However on the back nine of the West Course at Rosebud, the Beaconhills boys fought hard to take the lead.
Numberseven player, junior member Ben Taylor continued his undefeated season and accounted for Ben Smith 4/3. Roy Solomon won his match against Brett Hughes 3/2,
David Crowe was defeated by Simon Vercoe 3/2. Numberfour player John Ackaoui won a tight match against Jim Marconi 2up as did Nick Jones who won 2up against Chad Kendall.
Alex McKay lost to Scott Hinton 3/2 and Ryan Fuller came back from four down after nine holes to defeat Josh Cassap 2/1.
The Peninsula and District Golf Association announced that the players of the division were Ryan Fuller and Ben Taylor, both from Beaconhills, who won all six of their matches. The club congratulated the team under the leadership of captain and club vicecaptain Peter Lockman.

MURRAY WINNERS

Two recent club trips to the Murray precinct were described as highly successful.
The men based themselves at Yarrawonga, while the ladies stayed at Cobram.
Winners for the week included a threeway tie for the men between Andy Conn, Greg Barraclough and James Boyd.
Winners for the ladies were Nicki Charman in A grade and Lynette Forster for B grade.
The RACV complex at Cobram donated a trophy to reward a player for consistent golf and participation in activities during the week, as well as for attitude and thoughtfulness to others.
Winner of this inaugural trophy was Helen Lange.

TUESDAY RESULTS

Ian Simpson won the Stableford event on the Lakes course on a countback with 39 points from Lindsay Martin.

WEDNESDAY RESULTS

A small ladies field of 19 played Stableford on the Old course and Paula Rae was the winner, scoring 35 points.

THURSDAY RESULTS

This was a Stableford event on the Lakes course and the winners were Ryan Fuller in A grade with 41 points and Eric Booth in B grade who scored 39 points.

SATURDAY RESULTS

Stableford was played on both courses.
On the alternate course 19 played and Jason Hirjee was the winner on a countback with 40 points.
The Nightingale Matchplay continued on the Lakes course and is down to the final four.
Graeme Inglefinger will play Travis O’Neil and Herb Trobbiani will play Dave McKinnon in two weeks time in the semifinals.
In the final of the Dawn Shaw Ladies Matchplay, Christine Cole defeated junior member Ashley Cooper 3/2.
On the Lakes course, Matt Rennison won A grade with a score of 38 points, Eric Booth backed up Thursday’s game by winning B grade with 39 points on a countback.
In C grade, junior member Matt Delves blitzed the field with 44 points and slashed three shots from his handicap.

SUNDAY RESULTS

There were 67 players who competed in the par competition on the Lakes.
The Agrade winner was Glenn Vassett on a countback with plusfive and in B grade, John Van Duyl won with plussix.
