THE hit off between Nilma Darnum and Catani will be one of the most competitive games of round two.
Both sides are sure to bring a strong game to the court – given that the Blue’s and Nilma Darnum both experienced great wins in round one.
Coach for Catani Jessica Thomas was extremely pleased with her side’s performance for their first game, and will be hoping for similar success on the court this week.
“(We have) always found them (Nilma Darnum) to be consistent all over the court,” Jessica said.
“They have great depth all over the court.”
The Catani defender said there will be a few key aspects her side will concentrate on for the game.
“It will be our focus to ensure each person on the court beats their own opponent,” Jessica said.
Top performances from both sides in round one has left Nilma Darnum in second position on the ladder, with Catani sitting closely under at third. Despite losing a few senior players, Nilma Darnum has still managed to retain its strength.
Another side looking for a win will be Neerim Neerim South, in an effort to redeem itself from a loss in round one.
The club has retained its coaches from last year, with Ray and Marie Norman taking on the task again.
Marie said it was disappointing to have a loss in round one but is looking forward to Bunyip this week.
“Bunyip are tough, and they are always competitive and hard at the ball,” she said.
“We are looking forward to that challenge.”
Marie mentioned her and husband Ray are hopeful for more wins than losses this year, and feel each of their sides looks stronger and ‘a little more promising.’
