Rail without fail

OVER the past decade the Casey-Cardinia growth corridor has experienced a population increase that rates among the fastest in the country. The Napthine Government is delivering infrastructure to cater for this and future growth.
Since being elected in 2010 we have delivered more than 1000 new weekly train services across the network, including on the Pakenham and Cranbourne railway lines. We have built more than 1200 new railway car parks in the south-east, and delivered $25 million to upgrade local rail infrastructure. We have invested in our local road network, with upgrades delivered or in the pipeline for Clyde Road, Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road, Cardinia Road and Healesville-Kooweerup Road.
Last week Dr Napthine announced that this government will plan and deliver the Metro Rail Capacity Project. The Metro Rail Capacity Project is a critical project that will overhaul Melbourne’s rail network, increasing capacity and improving reliability and travel times. The project will include a connection to Melbourne Airport – with 60 million passengers expected to go through Melbourne Airport in the future, this is an essential piece of infrastructure for Victoria. The Metro Rail Capacity Project is important because Melbourne’s City Loop is fast approaching capacity.
The Napthine Government will continue to plan and invest in local infrastructure, and we will continue to work with private business to encourage local investments and job creation.
