Prodigal dog is back home

LANG LANG postie, animal lover and soontobe film star Rhonda Palmer was delivered some good news of her own last week when Jessie, her beloved Maltese Bichon, was returned to her after five days on the run.
Fourteenmonthold Jessie sneaked out the front gate last Saturday while Rhonda was fixing up a dog pen for her and her two fluffy pals, Max and Lucy, also Maltese Bichons.
Ten minutes later Rhonda noticed Jessie had scarpered but her initial search proved futile.
After putting up a lost dog notice at the Nyora Store, Rhonda received a call late last Thursday: Nyora locals had found Jessie heading bush on McDonalds Track and had caught her just before she gave them the slip. They contacted Rhonda after seeing the lostJessie notice.
“She is such an adventurous little dog,” Rhonda said. “But very sneaky and she knows just what she’s done wrong because she isn’t allowed out on the road.”
Rhonda was very grateful Jessie was returned. “I was just so worried about her but I’m so happy there are still some good Samaritans about.”
Rhonda plays a postie in the film “Rats and Cats,” which was filmed in and around the Lang Lang area and will be screened in August at the Melbourne International Film Festival.
Unfortunately, Jessie didn’t make the cut and won’t be appearing on the silver screen.
