Cr Wreford wants the walls established to recognise good works by people in the municipality.
Casey team leader development planning Liam Hodgetts said in a report to the council that officers believed the idea was an ideal way to celebrate people’s achievements.
The report said this could create a sense of community spirit and pride, plus foster ownership of the structure and adjoining spaces.
“Such structures can be significant works of public art in their presentation and could capture major historic moments of the city and residents.”
Cr Wreford said many Casey residents deserve to have their names on the walls.
She said officers had presented a range of photographs of such walls from around the country, but hoped Casey would come up with an original and unique design.
Edrington Ward councillor Mick Morland said the walls could create a part of history and give people something to aspire to.
“People spend hours walking through such things and they will see that we acknowledge people who should be acknowledged,” he said.
