VIBRANT and colourful costumes of velvet and feathers were everywhere last week as the students from Pakenham’s Beaconhills College busily prepared for the Rock Eisteddfod.
Head of performing arts Hayley Sandpearl said that with 130 students involved in the dance and backstage, the production had been a wonderful joint endeavour since rehearsals began earlier in the year.
Beaconhills student Melissa Luxford said she hoped her school could make the finals, at least.
“I hope so for the students sake, as they have all put in such a huge effort,” she said.
“The students and parents who have contributed their time with helping, whether it be on stage, making costumes or props, with makeup or backstage have just been fabulous”.
Ms Sandpearl said the college’s theme this year’s is ‘Queen of Queens’, about the journey taken by a princess who is to be crowned queen.
“The princess, who doesn’t feel that she has the experience to rule, goes on a journey of selfdiscovery.
“She encounters and survives many different situations along her path and concludes in the end that she is happy with who she is after all.”
