SIMON Goosey booted five goals in Dromana’s 50point qualifying final loss on Saturday to bring up his 12th goalkicking century in MPNFL football.
While it was a disappointing day for his side, it was another triumph for the 37year old country football legend, who splits his time between the Tigers’ goal square and as a forward scout and assistant with the Western Bulldogs.
At the other end of the ground on Saturday former Richmond player Stephen Ryan also snared five majors in his team’s win, boosting his season’s tally to 98.
In the elimination final on Sunday, Frankston proved itself far too accomplished for Somerville, downing the Eagles by 84 points in a dominant effort.
Ryan Lia hit form in attack for the Bombers with seven goals, while Hayden Moore was unbeatable in the air around the ground.
Chelsea grabbed top position on the Peninsula league ladder, along with premiership favouritism with a solid 42point victory over Mt Eliza.
In a game that became a shootout with a total of 41 goals scored, the Seagulls bolted to a sevengoal lead at halftime and held on despite several surges from the Redlegs.
Frankston YCW jumped to third place with a comprehensive 58point win over lastplaced Bonbeach, while Seaford fell to fourth after a final term capitulation to outsiders Karingal.
The other two games in round 18 saw EdithvaleAspendale and Mornington finish their seasons with wins over Hastings and Pines respectively.
